Quebec City's origins date back to 1608 when Samuel de Champlain started a trading post here. In a very short time, the post became a fortified settlement with numerous men and women traveling from France to begin their lives in the New World. Skilled craftsmen plied their trade along the St. Lawrence River and the settlement grew. This region was then known as New France and founded by the French to stake their claim in the New World.

Palermo (Sicilian: Palermu, Greek: Panormus) is a historic city in southern Italy, the capital of the autonomous region Sicily and the province of Palermo. The city is noted for its rich history, culture, architecture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 2,700 years old. Palermo is located in the north-west of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Palermo in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Angkor Thom was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late twelfth century by king Jayavarman VII. It covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors.
